The length<\/strong> of the Galapagos penguin \ud83d\udc27 is approximately 53 cm (21 inches)<\/strong> and its average weight is 1.7-2.6 kg (4-6 pounds)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This penguin of the genus “Spheniscus”<\/strong> is related to the African, Magellanic<\/strong>, and mainly Humboldt<\/strong> penguins who live from the north of Chile \ud83c\udde8\ud83c\uddf1 to the south of Peru \ud83c\uddf5\ud83c\uddea.<\/p>\n

Like other species of seabirds<\/strong>, Galapagos penguins<\/strong> \ud83d\udc27 have a hydrodynamic body<\/strong> to decrease resistance to water; they are extremely agile and skilled underwater.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This endemic Galapagos bird<\/strong> can reach speeds of up to 35 km \/ h<\/strong> when hunting. They are “torpedoes” underwater!<\/strong><\/p>\n
