Currently, this disease is affecting millions of people in the world, not only in their health but also in their economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>On February 29, 2020<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first case of the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/coronavirus#tab=tab_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coronavirus<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Ecuador was detected. The highest authorities of the<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.galapagos.gob.ec\/el-parque\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Galapagos National Park <\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">took exhaustive measures to prevent any contact in the province.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>March 1, 2020<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mayor of Galapagos, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/normanwray\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Norman Wray<\/strong>,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> activated the Provincial Emergency Operations Committee (COE). It established the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gobiernogalapagos.gob.ec\/en-galapagos-el-comite-de-operaciones-de-emergencia-coe-adopta-medidas-en-torno-al-ingreso-a-las-islas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">following guidelines<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increased controls at ports and airports.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any person with COVID-19 related respiratory condition symptoms is not admitted to the islands.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The possibility of not admitting those who -in the last 30 days- registered visits to countries that have an active outbreak of COVID-19 was analyzed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intensification in control and training to manage the pandemic in Galapagos.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>March 11, 2020<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ecuadorian National Government declared the country in a health emergency against COVID-19. <\/span><b>On March 12<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, authorities of the Autonomous Government of Galapagos coordinated a <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gobiernogalapagos.gob.ec\/noticias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PROVINCIAL ACTION PLAN<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the containment and mitigation in case of presenting symptoms of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
