On March 6, at the end of the Inaugural Gala at the ITB in Berlin<\/strong><\/a>, the International Foundation “Green Destination<\/strong>” awarded the Galapagos the “Best Sustainable Destination of the Americas<\/strong><\/a>“. Placing it first over places like Thompson Okanagan (Canada) and Puerto Natales (Chile).<\/p>\n

Galapagos<\/strong> receive this award due to the efforts made by the government and the tourism industry<\/strong>; Ensuring the sustainability<\/strong> of the islands.<\/p>\n

Since 1978, the year when UNESCO<\/strong> declared the Galapagos Islands<\/a><\/strong> a World Heritage Site, the government constantly takes care of the islands; Galapagos annually receives more than 200,000 travelers<\/strong> from all over the world; With North America and Europe among the main places where travelers come from.
