In the 2020 edition of the World Travel Awards, Ecuador plays an important role after being nominated in 42 categories. In 2019, Ecuador won 19 awards. Several tourist company hotels in Quito, Guayaquil, Galapagos, Cuenca, achieved the awards of the contest, thanks to their excellence in tourist service.

Ecuador as a country obtained the award as “South America’s leading river cruise destination” and the Cruise Train Route was also recognized as the “South America’s leading luxury train.”

Quito also won the award as “South America’s Leading Destination” for the seventh successive time. Above other nominated cities such as Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Guayaquil, La Paz, Lima, Rio de Janeiro, and Santiago de Chile.

Quito’s Mariscal Sucre Airport was awarded the “Best Airport in South America” ​​award, this year it was also nominated.

The indispensable city of Guayaquil also obtained three awards: “Leading Destination in Festivals and Events”, “Leading Destination for Business Travel in South America”, in addition to the award in the category “Tourism Council of the Leading City of South America “.

The most famous archipelago in the world, the Galapagos Islands were crowned as the “Leading Beach Destination in South America” ​​and the beautiful city of Cuenca was awarded as the “Leading City Vacation Destination in South America”.

The Galapagos Islands are also nominated this year, competing in 3 categories. The Galapagos Islands are a group of islands located in the southern Pacific.
