Alya Luxury Catamaran, “The Jewel of the Galapagos”

Origin of the Alya luxury catamaran.
In January 2016, the city of Guayaquil witnessed the emergence of this miracle of nautical engineering in Ecuador. This great project counted with the direction of the prestigious and renowned Naval Engineer Franklin Dominguez and the company TECNAVIN S.A. which was in charge of the design and construction. Finally, thanks to its efforts, it was possible to maintain all the structural and safety standards proposed by Lloyd’s Register.
The design of the Alya luxury catamaran has been taken as a reference from the catamaran “Ninah II” built in 2008. Therefore, the main dimensions and shapes of Ninah II were the inspiration and key components of an elegant, safe, and modern vessel in the Galapagos Islands as the Alya catamaran.

The construction of the Alya luxury catamaran was an ambitious project that involved some 200 people, among them: shipbuilders, electronic engineers, electrical technicians, carpenters, etc. After a lot of hard work, the project achieved in every detail the excellence and perfection desired by the owners of the Alya luxury catamaran.
Among its main features is its reinforced fiberglass; with a total length of 31.5 m. and a total beam of 12.3 m., thus taking advantage of an area with a capacity for 28 people on board (16 passengers and 12 crew members). In addition, onboard the Alya luxury catamaran all the technological advances available up to the date of its construction have including, which has given it great performance about similar vessels at present.

Inauguration and first sailing of the Alya luxury catamaran
In the first instance, on December 15, 2016, its official inauguration took place and the Alya luxury catamaran saw the light for the first time while performing its first navigation tests in the historic Guayas River. Subsequently, on January 20, 2017, the Alya, set sail full of excitement from Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands to finally officially start its operations as a luxury cruise ship in Galapagos.
