Last Thursday, December 12, the premiere of the Galapagos documentary, Hope for the Future, took place within the agenda of the 60th anniversary of scientific research in the archipelago of the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) in the city of Quito.

The premiere event was held by Mr. Arturo Izurieta as Executive Director of the Charles Darwin Foundation who talked about the importance of this documentary represents in order to expose all the efforts this institution makes to protect and preserve this unique fragile ecosystem.

This film was directed by Evert van den Bos, a Dutch filmmaker that wants to show the work currently being done in Galapagos by the CDF. The film also shows the future of the CDF, the efforts of the Galapagos National Park, and the importance of continuing to support the conservation of the archipelago. The movie has been funded by the donation of the Dutch Common Foundation to promote conservation work in this unique site considered UNESCO World Heritage.

 

Galapagos, Hope for the Future, also presents the work of several projects that the CDF carries out with the support and permits of the Galapagos National Park, including marine bird research, shark studies, interdisciplinary analysis of fisheries in the Archipelago, migration of the giant tortoises, the Galapagos Verde 2050 project, among others.

Many tourism representatives assisted in this exclusive event including Galagents representatives to watch this premiere documentary and mentioned also that this kind of initiative help to continue promoting The Galapagos Islands as a worldwide top destination.
