Origin of Alya Catamaran
In January 2016, the city of Guayaquil, witnessed the beginning of a new and exciting project under the direction of the well-known naval engineer Franklin Domínguez, who already built EcoGalaxy Catamaran years ago were selected once again to design and build this amazing ship. Mr. Dominguez manages to maintain all the structural and safety standards proposed by Lloyd's Register, one of the best international organizations in charge of risk analysis in boats worldwide.
The catamaran was designed taking as a reference the "Nina" built in 2008, its dimensions and main shapes were the inspiration and key components for the construction of an elegant, safe and modern boat that today sails the peaceful waters of the archipelago.
The Construction
Approximately 200 people were part of this ambitious project, including: electronic engineers, electrical technicians, artisan carpenters, oil workers, machinists, winemakers, air conditioning specialists, fiberglass as well as steel experts; all these personnel worked with passion to capture in every detail the excellence and perfection desired for the brand new Alya Catamaran.
Among its main technical safety features is the reinforced fiberglass stands out with a total length of 31.5 m. (103.34ft) and a total beam of 12.3 m. (40.35 ft) taking advantage of a surface that will have capacity for 28 people on board (16 passengers and 12 crew). The owners decided to include all the technological advances available to date of its construction, this has provided with great performance if you compare with similar boats as today.
The Interior Design.
The General Manager of the company, placed all her imagination in order to express in every detail how fascinating it can be to live a magical, pleasant and familiar experience within the facilities offered by this vessel, without overlooking and improving all the details and standards of a luxury cruise. From molded glass works of art inspired by the turquoise waters that bathe the archipelago, to the smallest detail of its furniture, make this boat special, full of extraordinary details that make all its infrastructure unique.
From Dream to reality.
The company that owns the Alya catamaran wanted a cruise ship to be built different from the rest, in essence, making its customers perceive that they are not only in a floating hotel, but in a real ship that, in addition to offering the necessary comfort to navigate the crystal clear waters of the Pacific Ocean, it could also allow guests to enjoy pleasantly from within all the natural splendor that the Galapagos Islands offer.
The Alya catamaran is truly a dream come true, considered a work of art, perfect engineering and a real teamwork, from its design to its construction. The engineering and construction team, together with the supervision of the owners of the boat, materialized an idea that had been on paper for more than 1 year, turning it into a very professional 100% "Made in Ecuador" project that now sails the Galapagos Islands.
Unveiling and first departure.
December 15, 2016 was the date selected to unveil this spectacular ship as Alya sees the light for the first time, carrying out her first navigation tests on the historic Guayas River. Over a month later, on January 20, 2017 the Catamaran "Alya", left the city of Guayaquil towards the Galapagos Islands to start its operation, officially as a luxury cruise ship.
Nowadays Alya catamaran and its crew members, have been making the dreams of many guests come true for more than 3 years, through great and treasured moments they have turned this experience into the best trip of their lives.
